Five Minute Friday — Learn

Written by , Posted in Five Minute Friday

When our girls were still living at home, we said this to them a lot: “Live and Learn.”

After a black bra went into a white wash: “Well, live and learn.”

After a low grade on a test they didn’t prepare for: “Live and learn.”

After a bad choice led to a frustrating consequence: “Live and learn.”

Finally, one of them said, “I hate this living and learning stuff.”

Five Minute Friday — Relief

Written by , Posted in Five Minute Friday

I’m reading the account of the rich young ruler. Wealthy, young and powerful. But it wasn’t enough.

He came to Jesus to seek relief from his concern that he wasn’t doing enough to inherit eternal life. He was looking for a pat on the back, a “way to go,” a “keep it up,” from Jesus. He was going to be badly disappointed after their conversation.

Five Minute Friday — Break

Written by , Posted in Five Minute Friday

For Lent, I’ve given up being annoyed. Yep. You can read about the process here, but suffice it to say, it’s been a very, very long six weeks. I’m sure you’re already thinking about how hard it would be to give up being annoyed. Yep. Friends have said they’d have to give up driving, or breathing if they were to give up being annoyed. Yep. I get that.
